Modular Kitchen Price in Pune: What You Get at Each Budget
A modular kitchen quote can vary threefold for the same floor area. Here is what changes the number, and which upgrades genuinely earn their cost.

A modular kitchen is usually the single most expensive room in a home interior project, and the one where the price spread between two quotes is widest. Two studios can quote ₹1.8 lakh and ₹5.5 lakh for the same kitchen and both can be honest numbers, because they are describing very different objects.
Price by layout
Cost scales with running feet of cabinetry, so layout matters more than room size. These are mid-range Pune figures with BWP plywood carcass, laminate shutters and branded hardware.
| Layout | Typical run | Mid-range cost |
|---|---|---|
| Straight | 8–10 ft | ₹1.6–2.6 lakh |
| L-shaped | 12–15 ft | ₹2.4–4 lakh |
| Parallel / galley | 14–18 ft | ₹2.8–4.6 lakh |
| U-shaped | 16–20 ft | ₹3.4–5.5 lakh |
| Island | 18–24 ft | ₹4.5–8 lakh |
Where the money goes
Carcass
In Pune we specify BWP or BWR plywood for base units without exception. The floor of a base cabinet under a sink will get wet at some point in its life — not if, when. Particle board swells and never recovers; the unit is scrap. The premium for plywood is a few tens of thousands across a kitchen and it is the best-value decision in the whole project.
Shutters and finish
Laminate is durable, repairable and now available in textures that read as far more expensive than they are. Acrylic gives a mirror gloss and shows every fingerprint, which in a kitchen used daily by a family is a real consideration. PU is beautiful and expensive and hard to touch up on site.
Countertop
- Granite — ₹180–450/sq ft. Hard-wearing, heat-proof, the sensible default
- Quartz — ₹450–1,200/sq ft. Non-porous, consistent colour, no sealing needed
- Marble — ₹350–1,500/sq ft. Beautiful and stains; not our recommendation for an Indian kitchen
- Solid surface — ₹600–1,400/sq ft. Seamless joints, repairable, softer than stone
Hardware and accessories
Soft-close hinges and channels are non-negotiable. Beyond that, the accessory list is where kitchens quietly double in price: tandem boxes, carousel units, pull-out pantries, cutlery inserts, bottle pull-outs, wicker baskets, lift-up mechanisms. Each is genuinely useful and each costs real money.
The mistakes we see most
- Designing a beautiful kitchen with no thought for where the dustbin goes
- Overhead cabinets so high that the top shelf is unreachable and becomes dead storage
- Skipping the chimney duct route until installation day
- A sink positioned so the working triangle forces you to cross the room mid-cook
- Choosing gloss white in a household that cooks Indian food daily
None of these are budget problems. They are planning problems, and they are the reason we insist on a 3D walkthrough before a single panel is cut.
