Everything you want to ask before signing anything.
Interior design is an opaque industry, and most of the anxiety around it comes from not knowing what things should cost or how long they should take. So here are honest numbers and honest answers — the same ones we give clients across the table.
Cost & pricing
How much does interior design cost in Pune?
As a working range in Pune, a 1BHK starts around ₹4–6 lakh, a 2BHK falls between ₹6–12 lakh, a 3BHK between ₹12–22 lakh, and a luxury 4BHK or villa runs ₹25–50 lakh and above. Where you land inside that band depends almost entirely on three things: how much custom carpentry you need, the core material you pick (MDF vs plywood vs solid wood), and your hardware brand. BR Interiors issues an itemised quote so you can see the cost of every unit before you commit.
What does a 2BHK full home interior cost with BR Interiors?
A 2BHK full home interior in Pune typically comes to ₹6–12 lakh with us. An essentials package — modular kitchen, two wardrobes, a TV unit and basic lighting — sits near the lower end. Adding false ceilings across rooms, a crockery unit, a study, wall panelling and premium finishes moves you toward the upper end.
Is the quote fixed, or does it change during the project?
The quote is fixed against a locked scope. Once you sign off the design and the itemised BOQ, that price holds. Costs only change if you request something outside the agreed scope — an extra unit, a material upgrade, or a layout change after production has started — and any such change is priced and approved in writing before we act on it.
What is the payment schedule?
We work on a staged schedule tied to delivery milestones, not to the calendar: a booking amount to start design, a larger instalment on design sign-off when material procurement begins, a further instalment at site mobilisation, and the balance at handover after the snag list is closed. You always pay against work that has been delivered.
Do you offer EMI or finance options?
Yes. We work with interior finance partners offering no-cost and low-interest EMI plans, typically over 12 to 60 months. Eligibility and rates depend on the lender and your profile — we will walk you through the options during the quotation stage.
Is GST included in your quote?
Our quotes state GST separately so you can see the pre-tax cost of the work itself. Interior work in India attracts GST at the applicable rate on both goods and services, and we bill it transparently on the final invoice.
Timelines & process
How long does a full home interior take?
From design sign-off to handover, a 2BHK takes 8–10 weeks and a 3BHK takes 10–14 weeks. A luxury 4BHK or villa runs 14–20 weeks. Add roughly 2–3 weeks before that for design development, 3D walkthroughs and revisions. A modular kitchen on its own takes 4–6 weeks.
What are the stages of a BR Interiors project?
There are six. First, a free consultation and site measurement. Second, layout planning, mood boards and material palettes. Third, photoreal 3D walkthroughs plus an itemised BOQ for your sign-off. Fourth, procurement and factory production. Fifth, site execution — civil, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting and flooring. Sixth, styling, snag-list closure and handover.
Can I move into a partially finished home?
We do not recommend it. Site work generates dust, and painting and polishing release fumes that need ventilation time. If your possession date is tight, tell us at the design stage — we can sequence the project room by room so the bedrooms are sealed and habitable while the living areas are still being finished.
How many design revisions do I get?
Three rounds of revisions are included at the 3D stage, which is enough for the overwhelming majority of our projects. We would rather you take your time getting it right on screen than change your mind once carpentry has begun, so we do not rush this stage.
Do you take on renovations, or only new possessions?
Both. Roughly a third of our work is renovation of homes that are 5–20 years old, which brings its own considerations — existing electrical routing, old flooring, structural walls that cannot be touched, and the logistics of working around a family that is still living there. We survey all of this before quoting.
Materials & quality
Which core material is best for Pune homes — MDF, plywood or particle board?
For Pune specifically, BWP or BWR-grade plywood is the safest choice for anything near water — kitchen base units, wardrobe bottoms and bathroom vanities — because Pune monsoons push indoor humidity high for months. HDF-HMR is a solid mid-range option for shutters. We avoid particle board in wet zones entirely. Plain MDF is fine for decorative panelling and false ceiling work that stays dry.
What hardware brands do you use?
We specify Hettich, Hafele, Blum and Ebco depending on your budget band, and the brand is named on your quote rather than left vague. Hinges and channels are the parts you touch every single day, so this is the last place we recommend economising.
What finish should I choose — laminate, acrylic, PU or membrane?
Laminate is the most durable and cost-effective, and modern textured laminates look excellent. Acrylic gives a high-gloss mirror finish but shows fingerprints. PU is the premium painted finish, fully customisable in colour, though it is the priciest and the hardest to repair on site. Membrane is budget-friendly and good for profiled shutters but can delaminate over time in humid conditions.
Do you provide a warranty?
Yes. We give a 10-year warranty on modular carpentry against manufacturing defects, a 1-year warranty on hardware and accessories in line with the manufacturer, and a 60-day snag window after handover during which we fix anything you find at no cost.
Is your work termite and borer resistant?
The plywood we use is treated to IS:303 and IS:710 standards, which includes anti-termite and anti-borer treatment. For ground-floor homes and older buildings in areas like Kothrud and Deccan where borer issues are more common, we additionally recommend a site-level anti-termite treatment before installation.
Scope & services
Do you handle civil work, electrical and plumbing?
Yes. BR Interiors is a turnkey studio, so design, civil, carpentry, MEP, painting, flooring and final styling all sit with one team and one point of accountability. You are not left coordinating between a designer, a contractor and three vendors.
Can I hire you for design only, without execution?
Yes. Our design-only engagement covers space planning, 3D walkthroughs, material and finish specifications, and working drawings you can hand to your own contractor. Most clients who start here do end up asking us to execute, but there is no obligation.
Do you do commercial and office interiors?
We do. Offices, retail showrooms, cafés and restaurants are a significant part of our work, and we have delivered fit-outs along Baner Road, Wakad Road and in the Hinjewadi IT corridor. Commercial projects are usually sequenced to run nights and weekends so your business keeps trading.
Will you work with furniture or appliances I already own?
Absolutely. Bring existing pieces to the consultation — photographs and dimensions are enough — and we will design around them. It is common for clients to keep a dining table, a wooden bed or an heirloom piece and build the new scheme around it.
Do you supply loose furniture, curtains and décor?
Yes, as an optional styling layer. Sofas, dining sets, rugs, curtains, lighting fixtures, artwork and accessories can all be curated and supplied by us, or you can source them yourself using our specification sheet.
Working with us
Which areas of Pune do you serve?
We work right across Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, including Baner, Wakad, Kothrud, Hinjewadi, Viman Nagar, Hadapsar, Kharadi, Aundh, Balewadi, Pimple Saudagar, Ravet, Tathawade, Wagholi, Magarpatta and Punawale. Our studio is in Tathawade, which puts most of the city within a 30-minute drive.
Is the first consultation really free?
Yes. The first consultation, the site visit and the measurement survey cost nothing and carry no obligation. You get a preliminary budget range and a clear sense of what is achievable in your space before any money changes hands.
Can I see your previous work in person?
Often, yes. Where a past client is happy to host, we arrange site visits to completed homes — usually the most useful hour you can spend before committing, because photographs cannot convey finish quality or how a space actually feels. Ask us and we will see which projects near you are available.
Who will be my point of contact during the project?
You get a dedicated project manager from sign-off through to handover, plus your designer for anything design-related. You are not passed between departments, and you will not be chasing a general helpline for updates.
How do I get started?
Call or WhatsApp us on +91 86248 20811, or submit the enquiry form on this site. We will call you back the same working day and schedule a free site visit — typically within 48 hours anywhere in Pune.
